Three-wheelers
Three-wheelers have a distinguished history. The very first combustion-engined car was a three-wheeler, made in Germany in 1885 by Karl Benz. Other manufacturers followed suit, with a rollcall of famous manufacturers launching on three wheels;
Three wheelers became particularly popular in Britain, thanks to a peculiarity in British Law. Any three-wheeled vehicle weighing less than 8 cwt. - or 425 kg if you prefer, was classed as a motorbike. As such, they were appreciably cheaper to run and insure and their drivers didn't need a car licence.
Morgan was the most famous and the most sporting of them all and has provided unashamed inspiration to the Grinnall team.
