Building the Scorpion

The chassis is MIG welded from steel tubes of various carefully calculated gauges and sizes, in square and round sections. Scorpion chassis are distinguished by their vertical side-members, which are formed as one continuous precision bend, rather than a collection of individual tubes. Each chassis is carefully fettled and inspected as are the suspension wishbones and front uprights, then finished in a durable epoxy powder coat.

Scorpion body shells are hand-laid using the best quality glass-fibre and fire retardant structural resins. Where necessary, extra strength is added in strategic areas by using core mat and/or Kevlar.

The preparation shop prime and flat each bodyshell before it meets its chassis and is painted. Grinnall's modern paint booth and skilled spray painters are the secret of the Scorpion's admired standard of finish. A two-pack paint system is used, and customers can choose from a virtually unlimited palette of colours.
