Building the Scorpion

In the assembly shop, the jigsaw takes shape. Front suspension, brakes and steering gear take their places.
At the rear, petrol tank and BMW power train - followed by a host of other components from stem to stern, which go to make up the finished vehicle.

After a final inspection a road test is carried out and a final polish, a new Scorpion is ready for its new owner.

The major build option is the specification of the power train (BMW 1000 8v, 1000 16v, 1100 16v or 1200 16v). You can choose a second hand power train if you wish, sourcing it yourself, or having Grinnall supply a guaranteed low mileage unit for you. Again however, the vast majority of owners choose to have an all new power train.

That Grinnall's standards are of the highest is confirmed by the fact that BMW supplies the factory on an 'Original Equipment Manufacture' basis. This is a privilege accorded to only two other vehicle makers, Rolls Royce and Maclaren.
