NEW PREMISES FOR 2012!
For several years we have been searching for suitable larger premises. We have now found a perfect site just 2km from the original farm site just outside Stourport-on-Severn on the Bewdley road (west of the river). A planning application has been submitted to WFDC and a positive outcome is expected by the end of February. If all goes to plan we should be moving by June 2012.
We will update this news as soon as we have more information.
SPECIAL PAINTWORK
We have recently teamed up with Piers Dowell, the award winning custom paint specialist, to produce some exciting new designs. An example of this will be unveiled HERE on our latest K1300 S-III, in a few weeks time (date of writing 14/12/2011).
MECHANICAL REVERSE - TRIKES AND THE S-III
We now offer mechanical reverse for all our trikes as well as the electric system. We will soon offer a Back-Up system for the Scorpion III K40 too. This system uses the starter motor from the BMW engine in a similar way to the BMW K1200LT Back-Up.
A NEW TRIKE FOR 2012!
New for 2012, the latest in our expanding range of trikes is based on the Triumph Thunderbird. This critically acclaimed motorcycle has been voted ‘Cruiser of the Year’ by top US magazine ‘Cycle World’ and re-writes the rules on performance and handling. The all new machine is powered by a massive 1600cc parallel twin motor that produces 85bhp and 108lbs/ft torque at 2750rpm. This machine will be fitted with a mechanical reverse. Mechanical reverse is now an option on the R3T too.

For owners hungry for more performance there is also an optional big bore kit to take the machine out to 1700cc giving 100bhp and 122lbs/ft of torque.
As well as the Grinnall options, Triumph has also endowed Thunderbird with a range of over 100 accessories to allow owners to add their personal touch to the machine.

The development programme is scheduled for completion by mid 2010. News on the launch date will appear here later this year.
Styling the trike is the task of Steve Harper of SHADO. Steve has worked with Grinnall since 1992 when he styled the iconic Scorpion III, followed by the Scorpion IV and, in 2000, the original BMW Trike, based on the R1200C range. His latest brief is for a ‘specific style, coherent with the work of the Triumph designers’.
The chassis is all new, but the rear suspension carries over from the R3T Rocket Three based trike, and the BMW R1200C. This proven, double wishbone set up has been developed to be totally reliable and offers excellent ride qualities as well as good roll resistance due to the carefully calibrated designed anti roll bar. Fully adjustable dampers are used with variable spring preload.
The final drive on the Thunderbird is by belt, so we are departing from our normal shaft drive on this one. We are working closely with GATES who are the OEM belt suppliers to Triumph, to develop a new belt driven differential for this machine. Future models in the Grinnall trike range will also use this new technology.
As usual we have revised the steering geometry and developed new yokes to alter the trail. This provides lighter steering, precise handling and perfect straight line stability.
Keep watching GRINNALL NEWS for more information on this exciting new development.
SCORPION III - K40
