Hand Controls
We offer a comprehensive choice of controls tailored to individual requirements. The most common are full hand controls: All of our vehicles use Hi-Spec CNC billet calipers which displace a very small amount of fluid when operated. This enables all brakes to be linked to a single lever which can be hand operated, providing excellent braking, and a firm feel on the lever.
Gear changing
For shifting gears, the optional Klicktronic system offers very effective control of the gear changes with electric push-button operation. The servo mounts directly to the gearbox and guarantees no missing gears or false neutrals.
Reverse
Non K40 S-III's can be fitted with optional BMW's electric back-up reverse. The K1200LT 5-speed gearbox has this facility and can be fitted to all of the non K40 K-series motors, including the 1100. It is indeed a fine piece of engineering if reverse is necessary.
Please contact us for more information and prices on any special modifications. We can usually accommodate every need.
How the Fuel system on a Scorpion-III works
Petrol is gravity fed via the small outlet pipe in the centre/bottom of the tank to the low pressure fuel pump (square gold colour) that is located on the side rear of the chassis (RH side on pre K40, LH K40) via the filter that is screwed into that pump, or in the fuel line (8mm). From there an 8mm hose goes to the small pipe on the top RH upper surface of the fuel tank (LH on K40), and into the weir chamber at the rear right side of the tank (LH K40). From there it exits the tank under gravity through the 12mm aluminium pipe located on the bottom RH side of the tank (LH on K40), through the 12mm hose (Note: these can collapse with age) and into the red and blue pre high pressure pump filter located underneath the RH seat, into the high pressure fuel pump (silver cylindrical shape) located under the LH seat. From there fuel, at about 42psi, goes into the engine fuel rail, to the injectors, and to the fuel pressure regulator - pressure is caused effectively by the pressure regulator 'strangling' the fuel delivery from the pump. After the regulator, the fuel ‘spill’, no longer under pressure, goes back into the top of the weir chamber on the top RH upper surface of the tank (LH on K40). This system prevents fuel starvation during sustained high speed cornering.
